The relentless pursuit of excellence in sport means that technology is playing an ever more important role.
State-of-the-art tech is harnessed in sports where winning is often measured in fractions of a second. But despite the importance of technology, there has not been official recognition of the progress it helps achieve.
That has now changed with the inaugural Sports Technology Awards, celebrating the best and most innovative in the field.
The awards, for which The Daily Telegraph is Official Consumer Media Partner, cover a dozen categories including training, performance, apps and innovation. They are open to all, from major sports clubs to equipment and digital tech providers and athletes.
Submissions closed in December, says Rebecca Hopkins, managing director of sports agency ENS, co-organiser with R3.
